So here it begins! This is our first concert under the moniker DruturuM.
Each concert will be exclusive, seeing a new set with new compositions.
The title "The Grand Book Of Anticyclic Chorals" has some ironic meanings in it, the most obvious being the use of "chorals" in our first fully instrumental performance as rock musicians.
And of course it was rather anticyclic to counter the expectations of a party (the show took place in the framework of a 30 year bar/club house anniversary) with a set which was dominated by experimental slow, "patient" music.
Naturally people are having conversations on a night like this, so on the recording the very quiet "druturum I-II" almost becomes a backdrop to the chattering, strangely uncoupling band and audience, while the totally unexpected drone of "druturum I-III" muffles those conversations brutally. And when "druturum I-IV" finally starts with its easily understandable melody and groove, there is a sense of release, yet still any trust that we won't mess with the attendees any more is gone by that point.
It came as a surprise to us just how introverted and shoegazy it felt to play some of these tunes on stage. We were so withdrawn into ourselves that it was very hard to grasp the audience reaction. Thankfully we got some insights afterwards.
All in all this was a very exciting, interesting and promising start for DruturuM.
Besides the concert this album also includes a room recording of the full last rehearsal.
